It’s officially wedding season! And now that wedding season in 2018 is here, it’s also the popular time of year for many 2019 couples to start really thinking about how they want their wedding to look like, as well. And so many of them (just like you) are getting their inspiration from Pinterest, wedding blogs like this one right here on Luma Weddings, and at real-life weddings that you’re attending as guests. I’m excited to share with you all the amazing things that we want you to be considering for your big day.
As the most popular time of year to exchange “I do’s,” summer weddings are known for glowing brides soaking up the sun as they walk down the aisle, turning a field into a moonlit dance floor, and enjoying the beautiful weather with newlyweds, family, and friends. Whether you’re celebrating your wedding this summer or considering options for a future wedding, there are some trends that are unique to summer weddings and are especially fun for this year! Here are a few of our favorites:
Check out the below graphics, the below tips and the personal favorites of my own!
Summer is all about keeping things light-hearted and fun. Keeping that same energy in your cocktail hour with a raw bar can play into the seasonality of your wedding, but will not overfill your guests before their meal. Similarly, consider some unique drink options, like mojitos muddled with different seasonal fruit, or even frosé. For dessert, couples are replacing the three-tiered cake with fun bar-style treats; what better way to enjoy a summer night than with a make-your-own s’mores station or an ice cream truck? Fun food options create an interactive experience that your guests will be talking about for years to come!
If your wedding is in the summer, it’s bound to get a little hot. In order to plan ahead for this kind of weather, it’s important to do some research on light fabrics and colors for your wardrobe. For brides, considering some skin-baring options, as well as playing with subtle hints of rose and champagne-colored gowns, can help you to be a little flirty with your look while avoiding those heavy and uncomfortable fabrics. For grooms, it can be challenging to stay cool while wearing a full tuxedo or suit. The good news is that suit and tuxedo rental companies like The Black Tux have light-colored options, like gray and tan, that won’t absorb heat as much as a traditional black would.
Many couples are playing with greenery this summer, whether it’s by incorporating succulents in centerpieces or draping vines on the rafters of a venue. The freshness of thriving plants is symbolic of life and growth, which are things that a newly-married couple will get to experience together upon tying the knot! Rustic decorations tie in perfectly with summer weddings, so don’t be afraid to pour your signature cocktails in mason jars, incorporate baby’s breath into centerpieces or bouquets, and throw some burlap around your silverware! There are plenty of ways to put small countryside touches into your decor to give it a summertime feel, so don’t be afraid to add a few details to give your venue a summertime vibe.
And we can’t forget the wedding venue trends! And these graphics put together by The Black Tux, I couldn’t agree more. I continue seeing more and more Luma Weddings couples heading outside for their ceremony, their reception, and everything in between. And you know what… I LOVE EVERY SECOND OF IT. It’s so amazing. So gorgeous. So ethereal. And when paired with the right location and the surrounding environment, it can feel nautical, adventurous, whimsical, decadent, or any combination that you’re after.
So, if you are wondering about which wedding venues are right for you — all you’ve got to do is contact me. I’ve worked at many, many wedding venues and I can certainly help to point you in the right direction.
