Your wedding is one of the most important days of your life, so it’s only natural you want to make sure it’s the best it can be. Not only that, but more of us are searching for how we can make our weddings truly unique to us and our partners.

Stuck on how to create the perfect atmosphere? We’ve rounded up some of our top tips…

The lighting

For the best results, you can match your lighting to the season. So, if it’s a winter wonderland wedding, opt for dozens of lovely fresh white fairy lights twinkling away. Entwine these into the chairs and across the tables, and hang them from different areas for a real grotto effect. Or, if you’ve chosen to tie the knot whilst it’s warm, let the sunshine itself provide most of the natural light, and enhance it during the evening with plenty of low-light (candles, soft decorative lights etc).

One big no-no is going for over the top bright lighting, it’ll only distract from the ambiance of your ceremony, plus no one photographs well in brash light, and you want to be looking your best!

The playlist

Music is a huge part of any wedding, and making sure it’s unique to you will create the perfect atmosphere, without a doubt.

Party people? Make sure you get a DJ in for later in the night. Want to get everybody singing and bopping along on the dancefloor? A band would be perfect for you. There are so many to choose from to make your day unique – Jazz, swing, rock, RnB, disco… the list is endless! Plus, if you’re looking to keep an eye on the purse strings, hire a band from the local area, which saves money on accommodation and travel costs.

The style

Big bold and bright, or dainty, romantic and fairytale-esque? Many couples choose to have a theme for their wedding, so it all fits together beautifully in terms of aesthetics.

Your photographer will make sure they capture the full extent of your creativity in the images, but if you’re looking for something a little more unique, plan in advance, get busy with mood boards (hello Pinterest!) and have fun deciding on a theme which represents you both. You’ll be surprised at how many options there are.

The scent

Believe it or not, many people look at having their own scent to make their wedding truly unique, too.

Now, we’re not saying everyone needs to hot-foot it to the nearest department store and create some sort of perfume concoction which represents you as a couple but remember to take into account the scent of the day when it comes to food, flower, etc. If you don’t want anything overpowering, bear this in mind when it comes to sorting out the florist, and the same for the food. If you’re going for rich, fragrant dishes, make sure the kitchen and prep area is safely hidden away!

The people

Last but not least, it’s most often the case that it’s not where you are, but who you’re with on that big special day. You’re here to have fun, make memories, and celebrate your love with all your favorite people.

Your guest list will provide everything you need for a day to really remember, so try and keep that in mind no matter how stressed you get planning flower arrangements!
