Ring Before Spring: Tips for Planning the Perfect Spring Wedding

Unique elopement location in Washington State

Planning a wedding can be stressful and overwhelming, but there are many tips that can help you make your walk down the aisle a little bit easier. Take this advice to heart when organizing your beautiful spring wedding!

The Ceremony

Although spring weddings are popular with many brides, they are not without concerns altogether. There are several factors to keep in mind if you’re planning an outdoor ceremony. Spring weather can be fickle at times, so have a contingency plan in place; a backup location or protective awning can put your mind at ease should the forecast call for rain. Keep in mind the time of day of your ceremony as well; morning and nighttime can be quite chilly during this season, so make sure you’re not freezing as you walk towards your groom in your gorgeous dress! An aisle runner will also help protect your gown from mud and grass stains as you prepare to say your vows.

Flowers and Colors

Nature is doing a lot of the hard work for you during this time of year, with spring flowers blooming all around. For your bouquet and extra decor, classic roses are in season during spring and are lovely when accented with peonies and fragrant hyacinth. Luckily, many of these flowers come in a variety of colors that will work with any theme. For outdoor ceremonies, sticking with natural colors that complement your location is a wise choice, although a palette of soft pastels is a tried-and-true tactic. Abundant greenery can also serve as a beautiful accent piece for bouquets, corsages and decorations.

Guest List

Many outdoor ceremony locations tend to be quite spacious, which is convenient if you’re planning on a large guest list. Ensure that you have proper seating for your guests, and consider providing paper fans or even cute visors if you’re in a climate where the temperatures climb during the day. For older guests, ensure they can easily access the ceremony site on foot, or have ushers on standby for those needing help on uneven terrain like sand or grass. Providing a small basket of heel protectors for women in dressy shoes will also ensure your guests are able to enjoy your wedding without worrying about sinking into the lawn!

Although there is a lot to consider when planning a wedding, the best tip is to remember that your guests are there to celebrate and support you and your new spouse. Use this advice to help mitigate some of the stress during this time, but remember that your love for each other is the most beautiful part of your ceremony!
