When you get engaged, there are only a handful of things in the world that can make you feel more excited. I know when I proposed to Haley, it wasn’t even just that moment that was thrilling, exciting, (and nervewracking) — it was the weeks leading up to it! And your engagement session portraits are your opportunity to tell that love story. Just like your wedding day, you will only be having one engagement portrait session in your lifetime. Make it count! So, why not capture some epic hot air balloon engagement photos!
Sara & Cameron met Haley (my wife) and I super early to catch the balloons early on as they were inflating, rising up, and we moved around as much as we could to capture all the different balloons. Man, it was crazy! Some baskets were packed like sardines, others had a hard time lifting. But the weather was perfect. And the balloons were gorgeous. It made for a SUPER unique portrait session. And since they only hold this festival ONCE per year, it was a no-brainer on when to schedule their session.
Heading out there was a bit dicey. It took Haley and I 5 hours to drive there, narrowly missing deer in the road along the way. And trying not to slip into a ditch with the icy S-curves. But man, that adrenaline keeps you alive!!! Haha.
This was every bit as real as the epic sessions that I dream about. And it was surely worth the wait as we counted down the days to their hot air balloon engagement photos.
And photographing such a sweet and genuinely awesome couple makes it all worth every single second of that death-defying drive. Haha. 🙂
