Lord Hill Farms Wedding Venue in Snohomish, WA

For this blog post, I wanted it to come straight from the bride (Michelle) about how much she loved her big day at the Lord Hill Farms wedding venue in Snohomish, WA.

A little backstory first though, shall we?

Michelle & JD are friends of mine. I’ve known JD for about 5-6 years now, and I met Michelle for the first time while watching the Seahawks game as JD’s place in Bothell.

Right away, I knew they were meant for each other. They’re so similar, yet so different – in all the right ways for each other.

A few years later, and I had the pleasure of photographing their engagement session on a cliff. Make sure to check out those engagement session portraits! LOVED them.

How did you two meet?

It was a sunny day on September 2nd, 2013 and I had the day off from work. I made plans to meet a guy (not JD) at the Kirkland, WA waterfront at the Marina for a date. I had been on a few dates with this guy. We were supposed to be meeting at 3:00 pm. As time passed and 3:15 pm rolled by… then 4:00 pm… I realized I was being stood up! I have never been stood up before. Sitting alone trying to figure out what was happening I looked over and saw JD with a friend walking through the marina park. JD immediately caught my eye. Feeling down about being stood up I decided a “walk by” was necessary. I wanted to make sure I still had it. hehe. I ran my figures through my hair real quick and give myself a quick pep-talk. I started making my towards JD and his friend who were at this point sitting on a bench. It happened. I did the walk by! I quickly turned around to see their reaction. JDs friend was looking at me, not JD. Feeling defeated once again I continued walking towards my car to go home, but something inside told me to look just one more time at the guys… and that’s when I saw JD and his friend smiling waving me over! WOW, I still got it! We spent the rest of the day/night going from bar to bar in Kirkland laughing and getting to know each other. After saying goodbye to JD I never ever expected to hear from him again. He was just the guy who made me feel a little better about myself after being stood up. Less then a day later JD called and ask me to come to dinner! And that was it. We have been together ever since. You are probably wondering whatever happened to the guy who stood me up. He ended up calling me the next day and said after making plans with me he got caught up with work and “forgot to meet with me”. I ended our relationship that phone call.

How did he propose?

It was the day after my 30th Birthday, JD and I were on our way to the Kirkland waterfront for a family birthday dinner. My family insisted we all arrive an hour early for family photos. After everyone arrived we all walked out onto a dock that was very close to where JD and I first met. It was decided that JD and I would do photos first. I set my purse down on the dock and walked over to JD’s side. He grabs both my hands and that’s when I knew — his hands were shaking. He proposed right there! And the whole “family photo” was a lie. I was truly surprised! Best day of my life.

What did you envision your wedding being prior to planning your Lord Hill Farms wedding?

I envisioned my wedding day to be full of family and close friends at the Lord Hill Farms wedding venue in Snohomish. I wanted it to be simple and not overdone. [And that is exactly what they had]

What was your color palette and your style vision?

I wanted a mixture of a few colors. I didn’t want one color outshining the rest. We had Wisteria, purple, white, ivory, light pink, light purple, gold accents. I was going for a Whimsical look for our Lord Hill Farms wedding.

What was your favorite moment?

Seeing JD during our First Look was my favorite moment. 🙂

Describe your Lord Hill Farms wedding day in your own words

Everything about Wedding Day was exactly how I envisioned it. It was such an amazing day filled with love, laughter and tears of joy. Having all our family and close friends there to celebrate was so touching and meant the world to JD and I.

What is one piece of advice that you could give brides-to-be?

The day goes by so fast. Take each moment in and enjoy all the hard work that you put into planning. The day is about you and your significant other. No one else. Remember that. Everyone will have their opinion on what they think you should do. Its YOUR day.
