Every now and then, I see old friends getting engaged through their announcements on Facebook. And it makes me so happy to see people so deserving of finding love… finding it. And in the case of this beautiful wedding at the Old Field Vineyards wedding venue in Southold, New York (Long Island), I couldn’t have been happier.
My old, dear friend Megan was getting married! WHAT! And at one of the most beautiful, peaceful wedding venues I have ever been to.
If you are planning to have your wedding somewhere on Long Island, put this venue on your short list of places to visit. Because not only are the owners’ complete sweethearts, the venue itself is one of the most beautiful, serene, and romantic places I have ever been to. It feels like it’s right out of a storybook. And you feel like you are living like how our grandparents and great-grandparents must have lived. In a time when life was simpler. More peaceful. And more intimate.
Below, you will see exactly what I’m talking about. And if you’ve been to Southold, NY before, you know how quaint and how beautiful the area is.
As for the bride, Megan, she and I go WAY back. We grew up only a few short blocks away from each other, went to middle school together, and graduated together from high school (Go Knights!). And during that time, we went to school events together, danced at homecoming, prom, went skiing together, and just had some good old movie nights with a bunch of our friends. You know – all the teenager stuff!
But after we graduated from high school, we lost touch. It’s a common story of high school friends, but Megan is one of those who I always knew would be successful in life. To this day I even remember conversations we had in psychology class about how she wanted to own horses, live on a large acreage, and be a leader in whatever she ended up doing for a living. And you know what, she’s living out her dreams. She’s not waiting for retirement. She’s making it happen. She’s amazing, beautiful, intelligent, and just down right cool. If she lived closer to me, I’m sure we would hang out with her new hubby Ryan and my wife, Haley – but California can have her for now.
So, if they live in California – how did they come across this gorgeous wedding venue – and why all the way across the country in Southold, NY?
Because it’s Ryan’s family who owns it. And it’s where he grew up. It’s where he has so many memories, and I’m sure it’s where they will have many, many more to come. And it’s when you combine the place you grew up with one of the most important days of your life, it’s bound to be emotional. Just have a look through their wedding photos from the Old Field Vineyard wedding venue in Southold, NY below.
And hey! How about one more for good measure. The next one is me with Megan. And I’m so thankful we got this last image together. (Photo credit, Haley Goldie)
