When it comes to those pre-wedding portraits, it’s all about getting the best outdoor engagement photos you can. And this session was, and is, incredibly gorgeous.
Let’s start with some advice, and with the most common thing I ever hear – from quite literally every single couple I have ever had the pleasure of photographing over the last 10 years. And that is this one statement, “I’m not comfortable in front of the camera.” Well, neither am I. And you know what… we’re going to have a heck of a good time, we’re going to crack jokes throughout the session, and you’re going to get some amazing outdoor engagement photos from it all.
From start to finish, it’s less about “being in front of the camera” and more about just having fun. Truly. That’s the best way I could possibly describe a photo shoot with me as your photographer. Fun.
Yes, there are a million things going on in my head about how to get the best possible photographs for you, what pose to coach the two of you into, where the best light is coming from at that exact moment, how to tweak articles of clothing to fit a little better, how to get two different personality types laughing and feeling comfortable simultaneously, and moving seamlessly from one pose to the next without skipping a beat.
There’s tons going on in my head during these sessions, and while you might only hear the jokes, there’s that 10 years of experience running around inside of me at all times. But when the session is all over with, it really just boils down to that one thing — what was your experience like. Did you have fun? Did you laugh pretty much the entire time? Did you feel comfortable? Were you put JUST outside your comfort zone to get those best images possible? Did you get clear direction that resulted in what you wanted? Did you have funnnnnnn? 🙂
I love being a natural light wedding photographer, and I use the natural light in ways to give you the best outdoor engagement photos possible from your session.

Engagement photos, holiday session, anniversary session, or a “just because” session… let’s make it happen.
Getting up close and personal. PS, soooooo she should be a model, right? Or am I just going bananas. Haley shares the same name as my wife, Haley. So, basically we have to be BFF now.
Those detail shots (in my eyes) are just as important as the standard, gorgeous couples photos. It tells more of their real, authentic love story.
Basically the cutest photo ever. I’m also pretty sure this needs to be the next campaign photo for American Eagle or Nordstrom. Anybody have a contact there? Anybody? (cough, cough)
Aaaaaand gorgeous. Love these outdoor engagement photos so much.
YEP! That happened. Perfect foggy weather. perfect red striped outfit. Well coordinated blue button down. Caliente.
Foggy beach stroll. Check. Yep, I love the PNW if you haven’t been able to tell EVERYWHERE on my website, haha.
Love these outdoor engagement photos as much as me? AWESOME! You should check out these other awesome outdoor engagement photos from different sessions, too!
