Year after year, I have a strong desire to shoot in the mountains when it’s snowing. Others may try to reschedule, but I am even more stoked when there’s loads of fresh powder. This year, I’ve found a couple new location gems in the forest, and Amy + Alex were equally amped to get out there for this engagement session.
This snowy Snoqualmie engagement session was just what the doctor ordered.
With a sturdy AWD SUV to get us there safely, we carpooled to the location and started throwing snowballs, catching snowflakes, and enjoying what the true winter had in store for us. To make it even more of a mountain vibe, we stopped by another spot to get some cabins in the backdrop. We really went for that PNW element with this engagement session, and I love every little bit of it.
There are a handful of great locations to shoot in the snow within an hour drive of Seattle. You would think there would be a lot, but there really isn’t when it comes to the best locations that have the right kind of tree (yes, there’s wrong and right types), creeks, lakes, privacy, and open light-source viewpoints. This little gem of a location worked perfectly.
Snowy engagement sessions are my favorite. They take a little more time to get to, they take a little more time to shoot, and they have a bit different of an editing process in post-production – but the results are that much more unique than your standard downtown, urban images that you see everywhere. I like doing something more unique, and so do the couple’s that book me. I love it.
Over the years, I’ve photographed many engagement sessions in the Cascade Mountains, but this Snoqualmie engagement session was memorable. One for the books. Amy & Alex are such a cute couple. So nice, so laid back. And their cute little puppy is a firecracker!
Amy & Alex are getting married in Summer 2017 at the stunning Rosario Resort on Orcas Island. They live out-of-state, and this will be an amazing destination wedding for them! I can’t wait.
