When they say everything is bigger in Texas, they really aren’t kidding. The Moon River Ranch wedding venue in Satin, Texas is a great example of that saying. And for Ali & John’s wedding, it suited their wedding perfectly.
They both have a large family count and their friends flew in from around the world. Storms rolled in and out, wind picked up, and at times – we got warnings of even larger, scarier storms. But, the weather Gods were with us that day and the clouds parted, the temperature rose, and everything was just as they had imagined it would be.
Getting to the ranch was different for us, but it just made for a more epic adventure.
We landed in Houston at 5am, drove straight to Waco, TX with our rental car and took a nap before the doors opened at the infamous Magnolia Silos. (think Chip & Joanna Gaines).
After being abruptly woken up by the local security thinking we are homeless sleeping in a car, we quickly cracked some jokes and went off on our merry way to find a more suitable place to park and grab some coffee. 🙂
From Waco, it was a straight shot south through some country roads. At some points, the roads brought us through some gravel paths which made us feel we were totally turned around — but we just kept on truckin’ and made our way to the venue.
It was so cute. It’s huge with hundreds of acres, and the places to call home for the weekend were so quaint and peaceful.
We all got together the day before the wedding to prep, plan, and re-energize. And come on, to have fun! After all, it’s a celebration!
On Ali & John’s wedding day, they got ready in the main lodge at the top (which comes with a private deck), and the clouds parted ways just as they were getting ready for their portraits. The first-look was seamless, their portraits were intimate, romantic, and amazing, and everything was just right.
They did without a wedding party to keep things simple. And it was perfect for Ali & John. Being their friend, I couldn’t have imagined it any other way. They are both very independent and it just… fits. 🙂
Ali’s family is from Texas, so having their wedding at the Moon River Ranch was really quite incredible. I love it when the venue choice is kept close to the heart. And this was exactly that.
