If you have stumbled across the wedding venue at Wandering Waters, you have come across a true gem. A gem so special, it will always be in my heart. Read on to find out why.
This venue is a bit of a drive from Seattle, but that is one reason why I fell in love with it. At first, I’ve never heard of it until I photographed a wedding there (see below for some of the images) – but after I came back from that wedding, I knew I had found myself my own wedding venue.
Wandering Waters is about 40 minutes east of Bellingham, Washington. It’s about 45 minutes from the top of Artist Point – where I highly recommend you take some time to shoot your portraits – and only 10-15 minutes west from a group of vacation cabin rentals where you can choose to book a few nights stay (and make for some awesome getting-ready photos). Some cabins are very modern, others are charming, rustic and traditional. Some are large, some are small. There’s something for everybody.
The venue itself is peaceful – set back down a gravel road and down a small, short hill. It opens up into a grand valley surrounded by evergreen trees and silence (with some birds chirping and wind rustling through the forest). If you are looking for a wedding venue that is the “anti hotel wedding” vibe – this is it. And for the price that Wandering Waters charges their wedding couples for the rental of the property for the day – you can’t beat it. I would honestly say this is one of the best wedding venues in Washington on a budget. Even more – the property managers are so nice and accommodating. It really makes the entire experience fantastic.

For this particular wedding I photographed, it was incredibly unique and so much fun. The intimate wedding had a foundation from Viking Pantheism, and the images resulting from their hard work and passions really showed.
