This gorgeous couple, Ava & Patryk, met and fell in love in Vancouver, BC where they started their lives together.  They dated for a few years and decided to make things official – and they wanted an absolutely gorgeous destination wedding venue in Mexico.  After much deliberation, they finally settled on the amazing Dreams Resort wedding venue, spa and hotel in Tulum, Mexico! Their friends and family piled in planes from all over the world to meet in Riveria Maya.

My wife and I had weddings the weekend prior and the weekend after, so this had to be a quick destination wedding for us.  We arrived a day early to scout locations, do some wedding photography prep, and getting energy back after a long stopover in Atlanta!  Requiring (at minimum) one full day prior to the wedding day to scout, relax, and recover is so important to be at 100% for any destination wedding.  If it’s a bigger time change or off-site locations are requested, 2-3 days arrival prior to the wedding day is requested to be fully prepared and knowing locations as if we were locals. For this particular Dreams Resort Tulum wedding, one full day prior was enough due to the size of the resort.

If you are searching around for destination wedding venues in Mexico, definitely check out Dreams Resort & Spa in Tulum. The architecture is beautiful, the weather is amazing, the palm trees always photograph well, and the beach ceremony site is – well – a dream!

Ava got ready in the spa for her hair and makeup, and Patryk was drinking with his buddies in their villa room – which by the way was surrounded by a tropical rain forest vibe. It’s incredible. The resort is so big that depending on which side you are on, you get a really different feel for where you are in the world. Tropics on one side and summer beach on the other.

What made this wedding extra special is that Ava is a very good friend of mine. She’s an absolute sweetheart and a great person in general. And as their friend, it is always such an honor to be their wedding photographer in the most cherished moments of their lives.

And because their Dreams Tulum wedding was so incredibly gorgeous, their special day was published by many magazines and wedding blogs around the world so that their story can be heard throughout the ages. How amazing!!!
