Lindsey & Justin have been planning their upstate New York wedding (super sad that I was already booked on their wedding date), and they wanted to incorporate the gorgeous Pacific Northwest into their Lake Diablo engagement session!
After chatting with them about the aesthetic they were searching for, we decided on the “epic” portrait package and headed out to the North Cascades for their Lake Diablo engagement session! On the long drive (it’s around a 3-hour drive from Seattle to get there), we made a couple pit stops along the way to capture some gorgeous waterfalls, too (how could we not). She had to do a bit of hiking over the rocks to get there, but she was a trooper and did “whatever it takes” to get the shots.
Of course, this time of year (October) is notorious for quickly dropping temperatures and unpredictable weather. Low-and-behold, we got some rain! Not surprising in the slightest to any of us, but the great thing is that it didn’t stop us from having an amazing time at this beautiful overlook.
If you’ve been following my blog, you know how much I love rain (not being sarcastic). And with them totally embracing the weather we had, it made it that much more romantic. Love the mood that comes from these stormy days! It really reminds me of romance novels (I personally don’t read any, but The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks comes to mind).
Raindrops kept falling on their heads, on their outfits, and scuff marks were on their shoes… but they didn’t care in the slightest. They cared about their photographs, and they trusted me. I cannot begin to describe my gratitude for them and how awesome they were along the way. It’s engagement sessions like this one at Lake Diablo / Ross Lake that really make me love being a photographer in the gorgeous, rainy Pacific Northwest.
If you’ve been considering a gorgeous Pacific Northwest vibe, this location has it all – forest, mountains, lake, viewpoint, sky, open-air, and way more unique than the standard locations that everybody uses around Seattle. Every excuse to head into the mountains, I’m game! Lake Diablo is also known as Ross Lake, so make sure you put it into your map directions correctly so you get to the right place!
Check out these gorgeous photographs from Lindsey & Justin’s engagement session at Lake Diablo. Absolutely stunning! Lindsey was a natural in front of the camera! Their wedding in upstate New York is going to be absolutely stunning. I really wish I could have been there for them. Congratulations again, you two. You are such an awesome couple.
Let’s shoot your anniversary session next year!! 🙂
Some of these are some personal favorites of mine.
Oh, and while I have you here, you might also love to check out these other awesome blog posts!
